How to Do Social Media Marketing YouTube

A Practical Social Media Marketing YouTube Guide - Social Media, Youtube, Marketing

Social media marketing YouTube isn’t something you can consider optional for businesses now.

It’s not hard to see the reason behind it. After all, video has pretty much taken over the Internet.

Video marketing is probably the type of marketing best-received by consumers at the moment. That’s because it’s easy to consume and tends to be more attention-getting.

In fact, most companies are focusing on video marketing this year. Even the consumers want more of it, as a recent survey shows.

This is the reason you should have a social media marketing Youtube plan. YouTube isn’t just the most popular website for sharing videos — it’s also one of the most popular social networks around the world, period.

So there’s a lot to be gained from going into social media marketing Youtube, obviously. It’s a great place to use for putting your brand and products out there.

If you don’t know where to start with your social media marketing Youtube, I can help you there. I’ll show you today how you can use the video-sharing platform to promote your company.

Your Social Media Marketing YouTube Guide

If there’s anything we can say about YouTube, it’s that it’s big. There are over over 1 billion users on this website.

In fact, studies show that it’s the second most-accessed website right now, globally.

Not everyone on it is using it for business marketing, naturally. In fact, a lot of its users are casual ones.

But there’s also a growing number of brands marketing on the website.

It’s not hard to see why. You can do so many things on it!

If you’re a business, you can offer promos, sell, and market your brand. If you’re a consumer, you can buy, research goods, and get reviews of products you like.

There’s no end of people making money on the platform. That’s mostly through ads, but it can happen indirectly through via calls to action that redirect buyers to online stores.

It doesn’t hurt either than YouTube was mobile-ready before most other websites too. Now that most people are using mobile browsing, it remains one of the most popular sites to visit.

All of this means you won’t be alone if you decide to market on it. In fact, more than half of both business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) marketers use it.

So what are you waiting for? If you want to catch up with your competitors, you have to start with your social media marketing YouTube strategy!

Make a Channel for Your Brand

The first thing to do is make a YouTube channel. Be sure you name it after your company, by the way.

You want people to identify your YouTube channel as yours, after all. If it’s named after your business, the link is more obvious.

You’re branding your YouTube channel, basically.

You can feel free to add some other words to the channel’s name, though. If I were you, I’d use a keyword that’s from your business’s niche.

That’s a good way to tell people what your channel will be about. It also gives them info on your business immediately.

The Channel Description

The description is a useful part of your channel. It’s where you let the audience know more about you and the content you plan to put up.

In other words, it’s where you tell your viewers what they’ll be seeing if they follow your channel (be sure to tell them it’s something valuable) and what your company’s about.

Don’t be too verbose here, by the way. People aren’t usually on YouTube to read long blocks of text, even if they’re checking out a channel description.

Don’t forget to add important data too, like a link to your company’s site, your other accounts on social media, and so on.

Other Parts of Setup

Be sure to polish all the other parts of your channel setup. That means working on a great channel trailer video (more on that below) and picking great images for your channel’s icon.

For the images, pick high-quality ones. Use the recommended sizes too.

The recommended size for icons is 800×800, though it shows as 98×98. For the banner, it’s 2,560×1,440.

Publish Great Content

All right, so we’re here for social media marketing YouTube. That means we have to talk about how to get people to see your videos.

It’s not rocket science, fortunately. It just means you have to make video content that people will actually want to see (and enjoy seeing).

There are a lot of tools that can help you with your social media marketing YouTube content. Try my post on Video Marketing Tools for YouTube, for example.

You should also pick video topics that are related to your niche. Your content won’t help your social media marketing YouTube plans if you don’t.

My tip for business owners here is always to ask their customers what they want to see. This tells you what your target audience wishes you’d make videos about.

Of course, content planning doesn’t end there. You still have to choose the kind of video you’ll use for your content.

Don’t be afraid to vary the video type you use, by the way. If you’re not sure which type to start with, here are some suggestions:

Trailers

I mentioned trailer videos for your channel earlier. Personally, I love these. They’re a great and easy way to tell people what they can get from your channel.

So how do you make a trailer video? Just come up with a script for something that introduces your channel and brand, describes what you do and make videos about, and calls for the viewer to subscribe.

The shorter you video is, the better. You don’t want it to come off like a full-blow advertisement, because that’s not likely to get you subscribers.

Testimonials

This is another great video type. Use it to make videos that show people what others think of your product or brand.

The goal is to go with testimonials coming from people with high authority or influence, naturally. The best testimonials come from those a lot of your target customers are likely to trust.

Make sure the people you pick to talk in testimonials are good at expressing themselves too. There’s no point in getting a testimonial from someone who hems and haws the entire video.

Instructionals

These are also called how-to videos. They’re a good marketing video type since they’re hugely popular.

People love videos that show them how to do something they can’t figure out themselves. As such, it might be a good idea to ask your customers what they want instructional videos of.

That way, you’re sure there’s going to be a ready audience waiting for the content once it’s done. It’s an easy way to ensure views even before you publish.

They’re also great for your overall social media marketing YouTube strategy because they’re a chance to show off your expertise. That builds brand authority!

Question and Answer

This is another way to build authority for your brand in your social media marketing YouTube strategy. Do Q&As with your clients!

The idea is to get all the questions they want answered and answer them. This shows them you also care about their concerns and want to help.

Added Tips for YouTube Marketing

There are some more things you can do to make your social media marketing YouTube strategy more effective.

I can show you all of these, to help you out further with your video marketing.

Take a look at the tips below and keep them in mind when working on your social media marketing YouTube strategy.

Use the YouTube Free Audio Library

YouTube has a free audio library. Most people don’t know that, which is a shame.

There are a lot of nice music tracks and even sound effects on it. It’s there for everyone to use and even download from.

Why does this matter? Because a lot of YouTube videos get muted or taken down for audio copyright infringement.

Use the free tracks from YouTube instead and you should be perfectly safe!

Make Use of Annotations

You can use card annotations to link to your site using YouTube videos. They’re called associated website annotations, and they can add a lot of pop to your social media marketing YouTube strategy.

As long as the site you want to link to is verified (you can do this on Google for your site) and your YouTube account is in the platform’s Partner Program, this is doable.

Caption Your Videos

Don’t forget to add subtitles or captions! Captions are considered metadata, so they can help you with getting your videos to rank high on search engine results pages.

They’re also a good solution for those viewers who like to watch with sound muted. This describes more YouTube users than you know.

If you have captions for these, though, your message isn’t lost.

Get Some Metrics

This is just my way of saying you should be looking into your YouTube Analytics. These give you a lot of data you can use to tell you how to make your social media marketing YouTube strategy better.

For example, they tell you about the viewers watching your content. They tell how you how long they watch your content and on what they watch it (mobile, desktop, etc.).

Use that to help your social media marketing YouTube plan become more effective. For example, you can try to tweak your content to fit your demographics better.

Take note that I’ve also written about how to get more subscribers on YouTube before. You should check that out if you want to do even better on YouTube marketing.
